Summary. WildEcho helps you identify wildlife by describing a sound or taking a photo. To do that, some of what you provide is sent to our processing service. We do not sell your personal data. You can use WildEcho without creating an account. The website itself does not require an account and does not use advertising trackers.

2. How we use it

To provide identification results, tailor regional suggestions, maintain your local journal, respond to enquiries, process purchases, and keep our services stable and secure.

3. Third parties (sub-processors)

  • Anthropic — the AI that generates identifications.
  • Vercel — hosts our website and proxy.
  • Upstash — rate-limiting (a brief request counter keyed to a token + coarse IP).
  • RevenueCat / Apple / Google — purchase processing.
  • Sentry — crash diagnostics (if enabled).

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Retention

Your app journal/history lives on your device until you delete the app or use "Reset app". Requests forwarded to the AI are processed to return a result and are subject to the processors' retention policies; we do not keep our own server-side copy of your descriptions or photos.

5. Your rights

  • Canada (PIPEDA): access and correct your personal information, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
  • EEA/UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale"/"sharing" (we do neither).

6. Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

7. Security

Our AI key is held server-side and never shipped in the app. Traffic uses HTTPS. No method is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable safeguards.

We'll update this policy as our services evolve and revise the effective date.
